Markus brings a unique blend of international experience, a diverse background, and a deep-seated passion for sustainability to his role as CEO and Founder of PureGreen Farms.
Early Life & Interests
Born on a small South Pacific island, Markus moved to Australia at the age of 10, seeking better educational opportunities. His formative years were marked by an active lifestyle filled with sports and extensive global travel, fostering a keen interest in wildlife, fashion, and cultural exchange.
Oil & Gas Expertise
Markus boasts a distinguished 20-year career in the oil and gas industry, encompassing both offshore and onshore operations. Starting as an entry-level worker on an offshore oil rig, he steadily climbed the ranks, working with industry giants like Transocean, Maersk, Ensco, and Atwoods. He honed his skills in drilling and personnel management while working for Saxon Energy, Schlumberger, Halliburton, and Easternwell.
His comprehensive experience spans all aspects of the industry, including construction, drilling, workover, pipeline installation, and onshore/offshore gas delivery. Markus has successfully project managed sites ranging in value from $2 million to $100 million, overseeing teams of 100+ personnel.
A New Focus: Sustainable Agriculture
Driven by a desire to create a lasting positive impact, Markus is now channeling his extensive project management and leadership experience into PureGreen Farms. This innovative venture reflects his commitment to sustainable practices and producing high-quality agricultural products.

Shane Hanns
Co-founder and COO of PureGreen Farms
Shane Hanns brings a unique blend of grit, determination, and a deep connection to the land to his role as co-founder and COO of PureGreen Farms. Raised in the vast expanse of far western New South Wales, Shane’s youth was one of wholesome freedom, marked by a passion for rugby league, rugby union, and bodybuilding. This upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
His journey into the mining industry began in his late teens, leading him on a three-decade adventure exploring the depths of Australia’s most iconic mines. From BHP’s Olympic Dam uranium and copper mine to the record-breaking depths of Glencore’s Mt Isa site, Shane witnessed firsthand the evolution of mining from old-school techniques to cutting-edge technology and automation.
Starting as an offside worker, Shane’s relentless drive and tenacity propelled him through the ranks, earning him opportunities as a shift supervisor both in Australia and internationally.
In addition to his experience in the mining industry, Shane has also successfully founded and run four other businesses. This entrepreneurial experience has given him valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities that businesses face, and has equipped him with the skills and knowledge to lead PureGreen Farms to success.
Driven by a desire to leave a positive legacy for his children and revolutionize the strawberry industry, Shane co-founded PureGreen Farms. His vision is to provide all Australians with access to the sweet, exquisite flavor of truly exceptional strawberries.
